COUNSELING COVENANT & AGREEMENT
Biblical counseling at Life Anchor Center is a structured and intentional process. By engaging in counseling, you are agreeing to the following commitments and guidelines.
Please read carefully. This covenant is designed to protect you, clarify expectations, and help our time together be fruitful, Christ-centered, and wise.

1) Commitment to the Process
  • You agree to show up with honesty, humility, and a willingness to grow—even when change feels uncomfortable.
  • You agree to complete any agreed-upon homework (Scripture reading, reflection questions, practical steps) to the best of your ability.
  • You understand that counseling is a process. Progress may be gradual, and lasting change often requires time, practice, and prayer.
  • If you feel stuck, discouraged, or unsure about the direction of counseling, you agree to bring that into the session so we can address it together.

2) Biblical Foundation
  • Counseling at Life Anchor Center is rooted in the authority and sufficiency of Scripture and the hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • We will seek to understand your concerns through a biblical lens, addressing both the heart and practical life patterns.
  • Prayer may be included in sessions, and you are welcome to share your faith background and questions openly.
  • You understand that biblical counseling may include loving confrontation, encouragement, and guidance toward repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation, and wise boundaries when appropriate.

3) Confidentiality
Your privacy matters. Information shared in counseling is treated as confidential and will not be disclosed without your permission, except in the following circumstances:
  • Risk of harm: If there is a credible risk of harm to yourself or others.
  • Abuse/neglect: If there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable individual, as required by law.
  • Legal requirements: If disclosure is required by a valid court order or other legal obligation.
  • Consultation/supervision (if applicable): At times, your counselor may seek professional consultation to provide the best care possible. Identifying details will be minimized whenever possible.
If you have questions about confidentiality, please ask before sharing sensitive details.

4) Session Policies
  • Scheduling: Sessions are scheduled in advance. Please arrive on time so you can receive the full benefit of your session.
  • Cancellations: If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide as much notice as possible. Repeated late cancellations may limit future scheduling availability.
  • Late arrival: If you arrive late, the session will typically still end at the scheduled time.
  • Communication between sessions: Brief messages for scheduling are welcome. Counseling support is primarily provided during sessions rather than by ongoing messaging.
  • Fees/payment (if applicable): Any fees, payment methods, and due dates will be communicated prior to or at the time of scheduling.

5) Scope of Services
  • Biblical counseling is not a substitute for medical care, emergency services, or psychiatric treatment.
  • If you are experiencing a medical emergency or are in immediate danger, call local emergency services right away.
  • If medication, medical evaluation, or specialized care may be helpful, you may be encouraged to consult with a licensed medical or mental health professional.
  • Counseling may address spiritual growth, relationships, anxiety, grief, life transitions, conflict, habits, and other concerns through Scripture-informed care and practical application.

6) Termination of Counseling
  • You may end counseling at any time. If possible, we encourage a final session to review progress and discuss next steps.
  • Your counselor may recommend pausing or ending counseling if it is no longer beneficial, if goals have been met, if there is a need for a higher level of care, or if session policies are repeatedly not honored.
  • When appropriate, referrals may be provided to support your continued care.
