There was a time when I thought faith was supposed to feel intense.
Focused.
Urgent.
Emotionally charged.
Urgent.
Emotionally charged.
If I wasn’t praying enough, reading enough, declaring enough — something must be wrong with me.
But over time, faith didn’t bring rest.
It brought pressure.
It brought pressure.
And many women I now walk with carry the same quiet fear:
“If I slow down, I might disappoint God.”
“If I slow down, I might disappoint God.”
When Faith Becomes a Burden
Jesus never described faith as heavy.
Yet many women experience faith as exhausting because they were taught that:
- Their emotions were spiritual indicators
- Their struggles meant weak belief
- Their suffering required fixing, not faithfulness
So instead of resting in Christ, they learned to manage themselves spiritually.

The Problem Isn’t You — It’s the Teaching
When faith is reduced to formulas, emotional outcomes, or constant self-examination, it slowly shifts the focus off Christ and onto the self.
You begin asking:
- Am I doing enough?
- Am I believing correctly?
- Is God distant because of me?
That is not biblical faith.
That is spiritual pressure.
That is spiritual pressure.
What Jesus Actually Offers
Jesus says:
“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Notice He doesn’t say:
- Come when you fix yourself
- Come when your faith is strong
- Come when you feel spiritual
He says, come.
Faith is not proven by intensity.
Faith is expressed in trust.
Faith is expressed in trust.

Learning to Rest Again
For many women, rest feels unfamiliar — even unsafe.
Rest can feel like laziness.
Silence can feel like disobedience.
Rest can feel like laziness.
Silence can feel like disobedience.
But learning to rest is not abandoning faith.
It is relearning it.
It is relearning it.
Rest is not the absence of effort.
It is the fruit of rightly placed faith.
It is the fruit of rightly placed faith.
A Gentle Invitation
If faith has felt heavy for you…
If you’ve been carrying pressure instead of peace…
If you’re tired of striving spiritually…
If you’ve been carrying pressure instead of peace…
If you’re tired of striving spiritually…
You are not failing.
You are likely responding to teaching that was never meant to carry the weight of your soul.
You are likely responding to teaching that was never meant to carry the weight of your soul.
And it’s okay to begin again — slowly, honestly, and anchored in truth.
